Nestled in Dades Valley in Morocco’s remote High Atlas mountains, Eden Boutique Hotel is a stunning feat of local craftsmanship that provides travellers with a blend of luxurious comforts and authentic Moroccan hospitality.
Winding up from the desert city of Ouarzazate, through the narrow Dades Valley to the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas mountains, the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs is named after the historic earth-built fortresses that dot the valley’s terracotta hills. The fortresses stand as testament to the architectural ingenuity of the Amazigh people who live in this remote mountainous region, but halfway up I find myself marvelling at a more recent architectural gem. Like a modern-day kasbah, the Eden Boutique Hotel quietly emerges out of the rocky hillside, its towers and broad balconies enclosing an exquisite hotel within.

The Sunday Times
Morocco’s newest luxury boutique hotel has opened amid the red rocks of the Dades Valley in the High Atlas mountains. It’s a remote area, two hours northeast of Ouarzazate on the ancient route from the Sahara to the oasis of Tafilalt.
The beauty of the surroundings you take for granted, but the sheer luxury of the Eden Boutique Hotel, a start-up by the hospitality veterans Lahcen and Ismail Sabiri, will surprise you. Inside are 18 palatial rooms with views across the gorge to the mountains, or over a desert garden created by the French landscape architect Guillaume Berthier.
There’s a pool, a spa and good food: an artistic, Moroccan-fusion five-course set menu that changes daily — and with flights to Ouarzazate from Stansted for £39 return this month, the trip is a no-brainer.

The Times
A series of rugged gorges have been carved out of the landscape, where you can hike among otherworldly rock formations and navigate the hair-raising hairpin bends of the Dades Gorge. Follow the ancient trans-Saharan caravan routes on your way to or from the desert, and drop in on ancient ksour (maze-like, often fortified mud-brick villages), fortified kasbahs and community-run museums. To the east are the red limestone cliffs of the Todra Gorge; to the west, the Valley of the Roses, where there’s a lively festival in celebration of the rose harvest in spring, the palm-fringed oasis town of Skoura and the fairytale ksar of Ait Benhaddou, star of Game of Thrones.
Overlooking the Dades Valley, the Eden Boutique Hotel blends traditional style with contemporary comforts, a fine Moroccan restaurant and a pool overlooking the mountains.
