The journey to Eden Boutique Hotel
Eden Boutique Hotel is the realisation of a long-held vision. Its founders are two brothers, Lahcen and Ismail Sabiri, born and raised in a nearby village in the Dades Valley, in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco.
As young men in the 1990s, they first worked as guides accompanying travellers around Morocco, enabling the two to develop a deep understanding of the desires and expectations of discerning guests. Lahcen then gained several years’ hospitality experience in Europe, while Ismail developed a successful tour agency here in Morocco.
HOW IT BEGAN
EDEN OPENED IN DECEMBER 2023
Eden is a dream built on 30 years of the brothers’ combined experience working in tourism and hospitality.
The origins of Eden continued when the brothers acquired a small auberge in the High Atlas. They set about renovating this old hotel with their trademark commitment to the Berber arts and crafts of the region, employing local artisans and ensuring that their unique skills were saved from dying out.
Their watchwords were culture, comfort, and charm. Using locally sourced materials, they focused on achieving the smallest carbon footprint possible. At the same time, they trained their dedicated local staff to deliver high standards of service to their visitors.
The head chef, third brother Mohammed Sabiri, had spent eight years in Europe training in the art of fine dining. His creativity and talent drove the hotel’s reputation for outstanding cuisine.
TO THE NEXT LEVEL
THE BROTHERS START TO PLAN
For all the work the brothers had done so far, they could see that a new project was needed to offer a truly high-end experience in this region – something that simply did not exist yet.
They started to plan the Eden Boutique Hotel, building on their achievements at their first auberge, but taking its style and quality to a higher level. They knew that such a hotel would add greater renown to this whole region of the High Atlas, attract new visitors, and enhance prospects for the local community.
For seven years, their passion drove not only the basic construction of the hotel – it also drew in dozens of local artists and craftsmen, giving them the freedom and opportunity to express their talents and showcase Berber culture in every detail of the building, inside and out. Centuries of tradition were given new life.
This vision of Eden inspired artists from other countries to get involved as well. Renowned French landscape architect Guillaume Berthier helped design Eden’s beautiful gardens. And British photographer Michael Colley contributed a large collection of his stunning black and white images of Morocco for the interior decoration of the hotel.

The brothers chose the name Eden – the original garden of Paradise – precisely because it evokes the essence of the hotel and its location.

At the same time, it brings connection with the natural majesty of the High Atlas mountains, and promises adventure in safe hands through the experiences Eden can offer.
Eden has been constructed in keeping with Morocco’s forward-looking policies for greening the environment, and with our commitment to supporting the local community. Our dedicated local staff have transferred from our previous establishment to be at the heart of Eden’s 28-strong team, providing outstanding service. And with the head chef’s move also to Eden, a refined fusion of Moroccan and European flavours will grace your table – a menu elevated far above the everyday tagine and couscous. From Eden’s own gardens, to the breath-taking mountain views, magnificent pools and luxurious hammam, everything we do is infused with a passion for bringing modern comfort and authentic Moroccan style together for you.
